Adamawa Workers Lament Deduction Of Salary, Threaten Strike Action

Strike looms in Adamawa as

workers of the state threaten to go on an industrial strike action. The workers of Adamawa state have lamented the unannounced deduction of  their July salaries.


Rhapsodi Affos Blog gathered that the workers affected are mostly within level seven (7) and Seventeen (17)  were taken unaware and thus disappointed


after they were preparing to celebrate Sallah.

Reacting to the development, the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC), Adamawa chapter, stated: “Leadership of organised labour received with deep shock the unfortunate and unwarranted deductions in July 2020 salaries of state workers, despite the COVID-19 scourge, without recourse, due consideration and consultation with us.

“In view of this, the leadership of the organised labour is calling on the government to direct the accountant-general’s office to reverse the deduction made on workers’ salaries as done in June 2020 with minimum delay.”

Governor Ahmadu Fintiri had reportedly expressed shock over the development.

Claiming further ignorance, Fintiri apologised and promised that the situation would never repeat throughout his stay in office.

However, that state chairman of Joint National Congress (JNC), Mohammed Tuki, appealed to workers to spend reasonably as they celebrate.
